Brand History
Comfy was launched in 2011 by Giant Biogene in Xi'an around recombinant collagen (originally called 'human-like collagen'). It started in hospitals and dermatology: medical-device dressings for post-procedure repair and sensitive skin built trust through doctors and clinical channels before extending into mainstream skincare. Giant Biogene listed on HKEX in November 2022, making Comfy the flagship of the recombinant-collagen story in public markets.
The real inflection came in 2021-22, when Comfy translated clinical 'dressing' language into a consumer 'single-dose ampoule' — the collagen stick became a phenomenon and lifted the brand from the RMB 1bn to the RMB 4bn tier. In 2025 group revenue was RMB 5.52bn, down 0.4%, with net profit of RMB 1.92bn, down 7.1% — the first simultaneous decline since listing. Comfy now sits in Sephora and China Duty Free, runs 44 experience stores, and has entered North America, Southeast Asia and East Asia.

Editor's note: Comfy's success was converting device-grade credibility into cosmetic repurchase. It proved Chinese clinical skincare can earn a premium from upstream technology — and exposed the ceiling of that playbook: once recombinant collagen becomes table stakes, a RMB 4.4bn brand must answer what it sells besides an ingredient.
