Brand History
Swisse was founded in Melbourne in 1969 as an Australian mass supplement brand, early on centred on multivitamins and minerals. In 2015-2016 China's H&H Group completed a two-step acquisition, making it the core asset of a 'whole family nutrition' strategy and bringing it into China via cross-border e-commerce.
In China Swisse's product boundaries are far wider than a traditional supplement brand's: alongside vitamin C, calcium and chlorophyll liquid, it extended the brand into 'inside and outside' beauty — the Manuka honey clay mask, blood-orange serum and collagen liquid — running nutrition and skincare in parallel. In 2025 Swisse's global revenue passed USD 1bn, China grew 13.3%, and it became No.1 in China's VHMS market; H&H's group revenue rose 10.3% to RMB 14.35bn with China contributing RMB 10.2bn.

Editor's note: Swisse is one of the most successful supplement-to-skincare extensions because it never felt like licensing — it built a full 'inside and outside' narrative. Its next test is regulatory: when beauty claims push against the food-drug boundary, the whole dual-line story is at risk.
