Brand History
Ultrasun is a Swiss family-owned suncare brand, with public materials generally dating its founding to the early 1990s. Its technical approach differs sharply from Asian sunscreens: rather than alcohol for a light feel, it uses an oil-phase system built for one application with long adhesion, emphasising photostability and long-acting UVA protection — logic that comes from Alpine use: skiing, climbing, long days outdoors where reapplication is impractical.
The range is cut finely by user: family, kids, sensitive skin, sport, face-only, at RMB 200-400, three to five times mass suncare. It entered China not through advertising but through specialist recommendation and cross-border trade — cited in dermatology and outdoor circles, carried by bonded warehouses and daigou. That kept scale small but ticket and repeat stable. As Chinese shoppers treat sunscreen as a year-round essential and pay a premium for 'no sting, no pilling, no eye irritation', Ultrasun's position becomes clearer: it does not sell an SPF number, it sells the one bottle you trust on face and body.

Brand-level:Revenue is not public. In China Ultrasun sells mainly through cross-border e-commerce, daigou and specialist channels (skiing, outdoor, dermatologist recommendation), with a ticket well above mass suncare — a niche, high-ticket position.

Editor's note: Ultrasun is a scenario brand, not a traffic brand — growth comes from ski slopes, dermatologists and daigou word of mouth rather than livestreams. The ceiling is low but resilience is high. Its real China opportunity is to make the 'one bottle for everything' argument properly, not to chase weightless watery textures.
