Brand History
Winona was launched in Kunming in 2010 by Botanee, whose founding team came out of Dihon Pharmaceutical and brought clinical habits into skincare: dermatologist-led observational studies first, then distribution starting from hospitals and pharmacies. Its actives are Yunnan botanicals — purslane for soothing, prickly pear seed oil for barrier repair.
Botanee listed on ChiNext in March 2021 (300957) and briefly crossed a RMB 100bn valuation, earning the 'first Chinese cosmeceutical stock' label. Distribution then shifted online to Tmall and Douyin, with extensions such as Winona Baby. Group revenue rose from RMB 5.52bn in 2023 to RMB 5.74bn in 2024 before falling to RMB 5.36bn in 2025 (-6.58%) as the efficacy segment crowded, while cost discipline lifted core profit by 48.22%.
