Topical PLLA Takes Off: 23 Products Filed Since the Landmark May Filing

*MZ Toutiao (美妆头条) · 2026-10-09 · Ingredients / Regulation* **原文:** PLLA化妆品备案数量暴增至23款:刚从“童颜针”走下神坛的医美材料,现在直接涂脸了? Poly-L-lactic acid, the injectable behind China's “child face needle” (童颜针), is moving into leave-on cosmetics. Since Haoling (Zhongshan) Biotech completed the first cosmetic filing for PLLA on 8 May 2026 (国妆原备字20260078), industry monitoring has counted 23 filed PLLA-containing products with more than 50 applications in progress — mostly hydrating lotions, serums and creams. Economics unlocked the category: medical-grade PLLA microspheres cost over RMB 200,000 per kilogram, but Haoling's integrated process, from L-lactide synthesis to cosmetic-grade microbeads, brings the cosmetic material to under 2% of that price. The NMPA had also approved 15 injectable child-face-needle products by September 2026, saturating the clinic channel and pushing suppliers toward cosmetics. The catch is claims discipline. Filed uses cover moisturising, sensory refinement, skin protection and gentle physical exfoliation; collagen-regeneration claims are not permitted for topical PLLA, and suppliers are urging brands to manage consumer expectations rather than borrow clinical injectable data.
