BPI alleges that Shein resold beauty products for which BPI holds exclusive licences — both directly and through third-party sellers — without authorisation. BPI is seeking more than €2.6 million (roughly ¥19.51 million) in damages. After hearing what the court described as complex arguments, the judge postponed the ruling to January 26, 2027. The case spotlights intensifying friction between prestige brand owners and cross-border platforms over distribution control, parallel imports and price integrity — and it lands shortly after Shein's long-delayed listing, which followed a valuation writedown of more than 70%.
