Guangzhou Beauty Expo (71st) Review: Industry Boundaries Redrawn from Beauty to Beauty-Plus-Health

2026-09-07 · VRBT Newsroom

The 71st China (Guangzhou) International Beauty Expo ran September 4-6 at the Canton Fair Complex, gathering some 3,800 exhibitors and brands across supply chains, daily cosmetics, salon care and wellness. The headline change this year was not scale but a systematic redrawing of industry boundaries.

Three trends stand out. First, the industry is expanding into "beauty plus health": alongside a co-located wellness expo, sleep health, body-shape management and pain management were folded into the core program, building an integrated beauty-health-wellness-healing ecosystem. Second, going global is accelerating — Chinese device makers now export culture, IP and ecosystems, not just products. Third, the professional audience changed in quality: attendance by trade visitors grew 27%, with a wave of cross-industry founders and investors, while buyers from the Middle East and Southeast Asia arrived in delegations.

Digitalization and AI form the other throughline. On-site AI ran across R&D, testing and store operations, while a TikTok live-commerce festival paired brand self-broadcasting with influencer floor tours to serve B2B recruitment and C2C seeding simultaneously; companion summits on AI adoption delivered replicable playbooks for salon chains.

As the expo's co-CEO put it in an interview, the market is not downgrading consumption but upgrading consumption awareness — consumers no longer just want to look better, they want to live well and healthily. For brands and channels, that argues for planning beyond traditional beauty shelves and staking out adjacencies in oral beauty, healing and wellness early.
